Assisted Lockout System
Los Pelambres

Project Leader:

Hector Palacios, Superintendent of Operational Services and Electrical Support - Minera Los Pelambres.

Challenge:

Executing the equipment lockout process is necessary in each maintenance maneuver and, in order to intervene in each one of them, it is necessary to lock the source of energy and work. In some cases, this implies times of up to one hour in transfers, from the point of origin to the point of lockout.

Solution:

This project proposes to implement an assisted lockout system, by means of lockout boxes that communicate between the source of energy and the point of work, in order to reduce transfer times in those lockouts distant from the actual place of work.

Objective:

The main objective of the project is to reduce the time spent executing the lockout manoeuvres, thereby reducing maintenance times and increasing equipment availability.
